🎯 Aim and Objectives of the Youth Empowerment Program

AIM

The Benson Nebo Foundation Youth Empowerment Program aims to equip young people across Enugu State and the South East with the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to become self-reliant, innovative, and productive citizens. The program seeks to inspire a new generation of empowered youths who can drive social and economic transformation within their communities — in line with the Foundation’s vision of “Inspiring a Better Enugu.”

OBJECTIVES

1. Skill Development and Vocational Training

   • To provide practical and vocational training in areas such as ICT, fashion design, catering, construction, creative arts, and entrepreneurship.

   • To prepare youths with employable and market-relevant skills that can lead to self-employment and job creation.

2. Entrepreneurship and Business Support

   • To nurture entrepreneurial mindsets by teaching young people how to start, manage, and sustain small businesses.

   • To provide mentorship, business incubation, and access to funding or grants for youth-led enterprises.

3. Education and Capacity Building

   • To support continuous learning through seminars, workshops, and scholarship opportunities.

   • To enhance leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills among youths.

4. Technology and Innovation Promotion

   • To encourage creativity and innovation in digital technology, software development, and modern business practices.

   • To bridge the digital divide by introducing young people to emerging tech trends like e-commerce, coding, and digital marketing.

5. Job Creation and Employment Linkages

   • To collaborate with corporate organizations, government agencies, and private sector partners to facilitate job placements and internship opportunities.

   • To connect trained youths with employment opportunities both locally and nationally.

6. Civic Engagement and Community Leadership

   • To empower young people to become active participants in governance, community service, and social development initiatives.

   • To promote values of integrity, volunteerism, and social responsibility among youths.

7. Gender Equality and Inclusive Participation

   • To ensure equal access to empowerment programs for both male and female participants.

   • To give special consideration to vulnerable youths, including persons with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds.

8. Sustainable Development and Innovation

   • To align youth empowerment efforts with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially Goals 1, 4, 8, and 10 (No Poverty, Quality Education, Decent Work, and Reduced Inequalities).

   • To promote sustainable livelihoods that contribute to economic stability and community resilience.
